Luis' Big 1st Birthday

I have had a crazy week so it took me 3 days to get these pictures up finally.

Luis James turned 1 on Monday and we had a great day as a family. We went to Anderson Farms in Erie for the day which was very fun...much to Oscar's surprise. We saw alpacas, goats, rabbits, chickens, ducks, a buffaloe, and cows...Luis called all of them dog, but whatev.

After Anderson Farms we went to Cracker Barrel for lunch and Luis was flirting with the waitress and an old lady THE ENTIRE TIME! I couldn't believe how obnoxious he was being, but I guess he is my son :O)

We let him have part of a brownie and Oscar let him have part of a sucker, both of which resulted in an amazing sugar high.

He was pretty grumpy in the evening because he didn't take a very good nap, but we did go to Gaga's house to get his present from her.

This weekend is more birthday fun because Luis' party is Saturday afternoon, I have so much to do still to get ready, but thank goodness I'm off tomorrow to get busy!

The Day My World Changed

At 6:18 p.m. on October 27, 2007 my world changed forever. This was the moment that I became a mother and Oscar became a father. It was the moment that everything else in my life fell to the background because of a screaming, messy little boy with an amazing head of hair and long, beautiful eyelashes.
I always knew that I wanted to be a mother but even through the previous 9 months I never understood the love that I would feel for a little person who I had just set eyes on.

From that moment forward Oscar and I were his protectors, his cheerleaders, and the ones who would always make sure he was loved and knew it.

This last year has been an amazing journey and I have loved every minute of the exhaustion, spit-up, diaper blow-outs, boogery shirts, and pee fountains. From his very first smile to his yelling, "BA DA!" (bad dog), I love this baby and wouldn't change any minute of it.

It has been hard at times, don't get me wrong, but he makes it worth it with his sweet smiles and sloppy kisses.

Thank you Luis James for changing my world for the better.

I love you!
Momma

Haircut!!

Well I finally bit the bullet and cut Luis' hair. I had been waiting until as close to his birthday as possible but we want to get pictures next weekend and he needed a cut before that happened. He was also called a girl on Friday and that was just enough!

He absolutely hated the whole thing. We started out with Oscar holding him but he was so hysterical that we had to take a break in the middle to switch to me holding him...which means all three of us were covered in hair by the end. I hope his hysterics were just because he was tired because this kid is in for about a million more haircuts in his lifetime! Here are the before, during and after shots.

We also went back to Monkey Bizness on Friday and had so much fun. He likes the little kid area a lot, he throws himself on top of the soft stuff and laughs so hard...but he prefers the big kid area because of the slides and tunnels.

Sorry for being so obnoxious with pictures today, but here is one more of Luis helping dad with the dishes while chewing on the top of a bottle

Little Monkey Bizness

Of course I only have one picture from my cell phone, but Luis and I had so much fun at Little Monkey Bizness on Friday afternoon. We met my moms group there (about 9 kids total) after I got off work on Friday and stayed for about 2 hours.

Luis was a little nervous at first because he doesn't like hanging out with too many kids, but he finally warmed up after an hour and just played and played. Most of the little kid area is padded blocks and such so he would dive into stuff and climb over everything.

I finally let him into the big kid area at the end and he loved the big slide best. He was always following some big boys around and laughing at everything they were doing. I think he is just dying to be mobile enough to run after them.

We are going back soon hopefully because Oscar is sad that he missed out on the fun. Maybe next time I will actually have my camera with me so I can get more pics.

Race for the Cure

Luis and I did the Race for the Cure on Sunday with our friend Blanca. It ended up being a beautiful day instead of being rainy as had been forecast.

Over 62,000 people participated, and you would believe it if you had seen the masses of people everywhere.

Luis walked in honor of my mom's friend Cathy who is fighting breast cancer right now and I walked in memory of my Granny and my friend's mom Sandy who passed away a little over 4 years ago.

Here are some pictures of the walk:

Blanca and I have already decided that we are doing the walk again next year, so here is your warning that we are going to be hitting you up for some money next october!

Lensky Super Star

At Parker and Kade's soccer game last Saturday Claire asked if Luis could be her special guest for her Super Star week at school. It worked out well with my schedule, so Luis and I went to her class on Tuesday afternoon so she could introduce Luis and tell everyone a little about him.

The facts that Claire shared were: he is my only cousin, he is zero years old and he is her favorite since he is her only cousin. Three kids god to ask questions about Luis and one of them asked what he looked like when he was born, Claire very matter-of-factly said "pretty much what he looks like now...only smaller." It was very cute.

While we were there one of the other kids sassed me a little bit and Kade came right to my defense and said, "she's been around kids a really long time and she knows what she is doing!!" He was shaking his head with all the attitude he could muster, it was great!

I'm throwing in a few extra pictures that I just took of Luis, just like to share the cuteness :O)
