Locks of Love

I have been growing my hair out for what feels like months now to donate to locks of love. I finally bit the bullet today and cut it, I love my new 'do...it just feels weird to have so little hair :O)
Oh and when I met Luis and my mom for lunch he didn't want to see me for a few minutes, like he wasn't totally convinced it was his momma talking to him.
Before...
Me and my pony
Please excuse the cheesey grin

Zoo Lights

We took Luis to zoo lights last Friday night and it turned out to be a perfect night because it has been way too cold since then to go. Although he was up past his bedtime he had a good time oooohing and ahhhhing at the scenes.

Calling Gaga to tell on Mom and Dad for taking him out so late

Post zoo lights fun...he had to layer to stay warm

Parade of Lights

Luis and I went to the Parade of Lights on Saturday night, the weather was beautiful and we couldn't pass up the opportunity. Unfortunately Oscar had to work so I've only got 1 pic, its hard to carry as 23 lb stinky, make sure he sees some of the parade and take pics.

We met Oscar for dinner after and Luis was being so silly, making his electrified face and cracking us up.

Making Wreaths

Erin suggested this year that we start a new tradition of making pinecone wreaths with Aunt Carol and my mom each winter. We decided the day after Thankgiving would work best since we were all of of work, so we gathers the little people and headed to Gaga's house.

We thought it would be a couple of hours, but turned out to take 6 or 7 hours because there was so much more detail that I imagined.

I've got pictures of the before and after...please excuse us all for looking so rough :O)

So kade asked if he could take a few pictures, these are his contribution.

Here is my after, I am so proud of my wreath! I love it but it weighs about 10lbs so it isn't hung up on the wall yet, we need some seriously reinforced drywall hangers!

Thanksgiving

We spent Thanksgiving at my moms again this year, I wasn't as on the camera as I had planned...too much fun was being had.

Go Broncos!!

On Sunday we took Luis to his very first Broncos game. We got tickets from Erin and Doug because they know how much Oscar loves his Raiders. The seats were 9 rows up from the field and were amazing, too bad the Broncos sucked so badly I wish I had been in the nose bleeds!

Luis was so good and just hung out watching people most of the game.

He of course made friends near the end (as is his usual style when we are out in public), the following pictures are him flirting with the grown women sitting a few rows behind us.

He has two silly faces he does when he is trying to attract "the ladies", one is his "electrified face" and the second is his crooked smile face...both get rave reviews from people.

He loves his momma

I don't have pictures this week, guess since he's one I am not as camera crazy :O)
I did have to post about some of Luis' new tricks:

1~ He is at a stage where he completely ignores his toys because he could much rather walk all over the house. He will sometimes carry a phone or pencil like he has work to do, but mostly will just walk while patting himself on the tummy.

He got some new shoes last night and was having a little trouble with them because they have hard soles. He kept trying to kick them off but after a few minutes he was back to pacing all over the place and getting into trouble.

2 ~ Luis now points to himself when you ask who Luis is and he sometimes says "baby" as he's pointing. He thinks he is so cute because he gives a big cheesey grin each time he does it.

3 ~ He LOVES his momma! Oscar was hugging me last night and Luis started to yell at him. We thought it might be a fluke so he hugged me again and sure enough Luis started yelling with a very mean look on his face. I think if he hadn't been in the shower he would have gone after Oscar :O) I know he loves me, but that kind of showing sure does make a momma feel good!

And while not Luis related, I did need to note that I'm going to see NKOTB tomorrow night!!! We are going to have so much fun screaming like 11 year old girls (I think that is how old I was when they were cool last time). I don't think I'll be able to take my camera in, but you better believe I'm taking pictures with my phone!

Luis' Birthday Party

So I know I'm a week late posting these, but I just needed a week of not doing anything after the craziness of the previous 10 days.

We had a good party, lots of friends came and Luis seemed to have a great time...although he was asleep for half of the party, you just can't plan naps when a little boy is tired sometimes.

Here are the treats that I made for the party: there were crows claws, witches hats, zombies, and witch brooms.
Luis wasn't all that interested in his cupcake, I think he would have preferred chocolate...

I want to thank everyone that came, Luis made good notes as to who gave him what so you'll be getting a thank you note soon.

Luis' Big 1st Birthday

I have had a crazy week so it took me 3 days to get these pictures up finally.

Luis James turned 1 on Monday and we had a great day as a family. We went to Anderson Farms in Erie for the day which was very fun...much to Oscar's surprise. We saw alpacas, goats, rabbits, chickens, ducks, a buffaloe, and cows...Luis called all of them dog, but whatev.

After Anderson Farms we went to Cracker Barrel for lunch and Luis was flirting with the waitress and an old lady THE ENTIRE TIME! I couldn't believe how obnoxious he was being, but I guess he is my son :O)

We let him have part of a brownie and Oscar let him have part of a sucker, both of which resulted in an amazing sugar high.

He was pretty grumpy in the evening because he didn't take a very good nap, but we did go to Gaga's house to get his present from her.

This weekend is more birthday fun because Luis' party is Saturday afternoon, I have so much to do still to get ready, but thank goodness I'm off tomorrow to get busy!

The Day My World Changed

At 6:18 p.m. on October 27, 2007 my world changed forever. This was the moment that I became a mother and Oscar became a father. It was the moment that everything else in my life fell to the background because of a screaming, messy little boy with an amazing head of hair and long, beautiful eyelashes.
I always knew that I wanted to be a mother but even through the previous 9 months I never understood the love that I would feel for a little person who I had just set eyes on.

From that moment forward Oscar and I were his protectors, his cheerleaders, and the ones who would always make sure he was loved and knew it.

This last year has been an amazing journey and I have loved every minute of the exhaustion, spit-up, diaper blow-outs, boogery shirts, and pee fountains. From his very first smile to his yelling, "BA DA!" (bad dog), I love this baby and wouldn't change any minute of it.

It has been hard at times, don't get me wrong, but he makes it worth it with his sweet smiles and sloppy kisses.

Thank you Luis James for changing my world for the better.

I love you!
Momma

Haircut!!

Well I finally bit the bullet and cut Luis' hair. I had been waiting until as close to his birthday as possible but we want to get pictures next weekend and he needed a cut before that happened. He was also called a girl on Friday and that was just enough!

He absolutely hated the whole thing. We started out with Oscar holding him but he was so hysterical that we had to take a break in the middle to switch to me holding him...which means all three of us were covered in hair by the end. I hope his hysterics were just because he was tired because this kid is in for about a million more haircuts in his lifetime! Here are the before, during and after shots.

We also went back to Monkey Bizness on Friday and had so much fun. He likes the little kid area a lot, he throws himself on top of the soft stuff and laughs so hard...but he prefers the big kid area because of the slides and tunnels.

Sorry for being so obnoxious with pictures today, but here is one more of Luis helping dad with the dishes while chewing on the top of a bottle
